Alluvium in partnership with the Australian Farm Institute was engaged by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment to develop a Drought Resilience Research and Adoption Investment Plan, to support Australian Government knowledge investment under the Future Drought Fund.
Under climate change, the incidence and severity of drought appears to be increasing. This presents significant challenges for agriculture, farming-dependent communities and the natural resources base on which agriculture depends.
This project identified the knowledge gaps and priorities, and importantly, the most effective pathways for adoption of that knowledge, needed to help build drought resilience across the triple bottom-line.
Knowledge and adoption needs and priorities were identified through nation-wide consultations with farmers, agronomists, natural resource management organisations, government officials and the research community.
