Mitchell has recently completed a Master of Economics, with a major in agricultural and resource economics, from the University of New England. In this degree, he has demonstrated an excellent understanding of economic theory as it relates to the natural environment and developed high-level research and data analysis skills. He has experience undertaking cost-benefit analysis, which included valuing non-market goods. He has also built multiple complex bioeconomic models to support policy analysis.
Prior to studying towards becoming a resource economist, Mitchell gained 4+ years of experience working in finance-related roles. Most notably, he worked as a finance analyst in the financial planning and analysis team of a multinational data company. In this role, he focused on building budgets, forecasts and management reports and performed extensive financial analysis. Through this experience, Mitchell has demonstrated a detailed understanding of the skills required to perform financial analysis, including calculating net present values, internal rates of return and intrinsic values.
Mitchell is passionate about economic analysis and how it can be used to make smarter decisions about how we manage our natural resources.
