Sam is an experienced development sector professional with 20+ years working in and leading a wide spectrum of water-related developmental projects in Indian and foreign geographies. As part of his last employment with World Resources Institute (WRI) India, he led the Water Resilience practice in India to execute action research programs, technical advisory, policy development and innovation support, as well as multi-stakeholder outreach and engagement. He has worked with key decision-makers/actors to identify and forecast urban water challenges and develop science-based and evidence-driven solutions to achieve resilient water outcomes for all. His work focused on living infrastructure, climate adaptation and resilience including conservation and management of waterbodies and related ecosystems to improve the performance of ecosystem services.

As part of his employment with ERM India, he led the Integrated Water Management work portfolio of ERM for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Nort Africa geographies. In that role, his work helped to drive sustainable business growth as well as manage business-related water risks in a water-finite world. He has assisted numerous companies across food and beverage, power, manufacturing, chemical, and real estate sectors as well as several financial institutions and investors with water risk assessments, risk mitigation and water strategy innovation. Sam has also worked extensively on projects related to water vulnerability assessment, water sustainability/water stewardship framework development, hydrogeological and hydrological assessment, watershed assessment, water harvesting and aquifer recharge, characterization and remediation of contaminated surface water bodies and groundwater, flood risk assessment and data visualization etc.
