Simon is an energetic and motivated urban water specialist. His passion lies in creating water sensitive cities that enhance the liveability, sustainability and resilience of urban centres through the use of nature-based solutions, alternative water sources and community led outcomes.
With training in law and engineering, Simon is a highly adaptable professional able to contribute to projects that span policy, regulation, strategy, planning, design and stakeholder engagement. Simon also brings public sector experience to the team, having previously held leadership, policy and planning roles at a public water utility and state government water department.
Simon is driven to make a difference and is an active member of the community. He is the co-founder of Our Future Cities, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the transition to a sustainable future through collaboration and innovation. Simon also supports the smart water sector in the Asia-Pacific region as Co-chair of the Smart Water Networks Forum (SWAN) Partnerships Group. Simon’s volunteer work also includes past roles with the Word Bank – Water and Sanitation Program (Zimbabwe), University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), Conservation Volunteers Australia (NT), Engineers Without Borders (NT), Environmental Justice Australia (Vic), Australian Water Association (Vic) and Copenhagen Urban Lab (Denmark).
Simon has been involved in several award-winning projects and was recognised as the National Young Water Professional of the Year in 2021 by the Australian Water Association for his work inspiring and driving a sustainable water future.
